Drive up the coast: Car Rental

I am going to be staying at the St. Regis on the evening of March 24th. My wife and I Have to be back in LA on the next night. We are interested in taking the drive up the PCH towards LA. We would like to do so in a rental car (preferably a convertible) and I am wondering if there are any local affordable options for such an adventure?

In other words, I would need a car for 7 hours, to pick up around Dana Point and to drop off in LA.

Any ideas?
