Hi, I'm new here but not to the internet. I live in Arizona but I visit Laguna Beach twice a year for the Festival of the Arts and the Sawdust Festival, and general relaxation.

I'm looking for anyone who may have known the prior owner of the Las Brisas restaurant, back when it was called the Victor Hugo Inn. His name was Marcel Langlois and his wife was Pauline. As far as I know, they are both deceased by now. My grandfather was a good friend of them both for years and years. I'm trying to find information but since they've both been dead for so long it's hard to find anyone who knew them at all. I talked to the current general manager of Las Brisas, and he said he knew them but he sounded very gruff, like he really didn't want to talk to me. So I would rather not talk to him about it. I also called a "Laguna Beach Historical Society" and asked for someone named Kimberly Stuart. They never pick up the phone but I've left several messages asking to be called back ... but no luck there; it was another dead end. I was given the number by the Chamber of Commerce, too. You'd think they would give me a correct number.

The reason I'm interested is that my mother now has mid-stage Alzheimer's and the most enjoyment she gets out of life now is talking about family (we're really a close family) and looking at old family albums. I ran across two pictures of a man who I believe (but I don't really "know") to be Marcel Langlois and his wife, Pauline. I scanned them, so I am looking for someone who knew them who would be willing to take a look at them and tell me whether or not they really are who I think they might be.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I can be contacted off-forum at .... azboy at cableone dot net .... that might be better so names don't get mentioned in a public way. Respect for people's privacy, you know.

Hoping for someone with a long memory (but I know this is a longshot),

Hi,

I don't know if you have contacted us or not but my father knew Marcel and Pauline. We purchased Langlois Fancy Frozen Foods from them. I will send an email to the address you put in your post.

The CFO of Las Brisas contributed to the Yes on 8 campaign. OC Gays and *******s should be aware of this before they spend their money at this establishment.

Your hatred and intolerance of other's lifestyles, along with your tiny-minded Gestapo-like suppression of differing opinions is in direct opposition to the constitutional rights that we ALL enjoy, as Americans, to freedom of expression.

That said, I want to thank you for alerting me to the CFO's support of Yes on 8. Last night, my wife & I and six other friends had dinner plans elsewhere - but because your well-timed comment, we changed our plans and dropped well over $600 at Las Brisas! Wow - a great time was had by all.

When in Laguna Beach, you'll be hard-pressed to beat Las Brisas for food quality, drinks and especially the view!!

By the way, your cowardice is showing - the way you identify yourself as "Unregistered Guest" is fairly typical of "verbal-bomb throwers" who screech their ignorant points of view, and yet are AFRAID to let us know your names! My guess is that your mother is ashamed of you.

Thanks,
Doug
