Would the week of July 4th 2007 be more full than the week after? I have heard that people often take a week off around July 4th? Or will July be full anyway?

Hey there Verket!

Not only does 4th of July fall right in the middle of the week in 2007, it's also right in the middle of the busiest time of the year in Laguna Beach. Our suggestion to you is to book EARLY - regardless of whether it's the week before 4th of July or after! The height of the season in Laguna Beach is June, July, and August. :D

Thanks! Yea, I worry about that..but it was the only time we could find that worked for everybody! Icelandair is not flying during the winter..or we would have gone in February..darn! Takes a lot to plan.

When you mean early, do you mean to book now?

Mosken,

All hotels vary when it comes to how far in advance you can book, some are accepting reservations now, some will only book 2 months in advance. Is there a particular hotel you are interested in?

I try to find a hotel that is accesible for disabled. I emailed this hotel:

http://lagunabeach.com/lagunabrisas/

It was suggested from one of the other moderators at this board. But I haven't had any reply from the hotel yet. It looked like they have a garage for the guests cars..and that would not work for us with a tall camper.

Try Best Western Laguna Reef Inn. They have an uncovered parking lot and I did confirm you will be able to park your camper there. Also, you can book now for next July. Unfortunately, they don't have an email address, so you'll have to call. Oh yes, and one more thing to mention, they do have handicap-accessible rooms. ;)

Do you know how the building is...is there rooms on the ground floor or do they have large enough elevators for a wheelbench? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wheelbench

You have been really helpful! I will call them, I hope my English will be good enough! Sometimes when people talk fast I might have problems understanding them. Easy to misunderstand!

The opening of the hotel room doors at Laguna Reef Inn are of standard size, so if this wheelbench is larger than the opening of most doors, you'll have a problem.

We also wanted to give the direct number to the hotel in addition to the 800 number -it's 949-499-2227.

We hope this information helps!

Thanks, Jo jo!

The wheelbench is very narrow, so that is not a problem. Besides I am able to walk for a few steps, so I usually walk through doors.

I will save the phone number, thanks!
I think however I have to give up Lagune as far as hotels are concerned. The parking of the camper will be so diffecult and almost as expencive as one room! With the need of two room and the parking, it will be very expencive.

I quote from a letter from Laguna Brisas Spa Hotel:

At this moment, rooms are currently available for your requested dates at the following rates:

2 Queen Premium: $260.00/WKDY, $350.00/WKND

2 Queen Delxue: $233.00/WKDY, $323.00/WKDN

Difference between deluxe and premium are deluxe rooms have a two person whirlpool in the bathroom and premium rooms have a whirlpool in the bedroom area with private balcony and a partial ocean view.

About parking situation, you will be able to park on the street. You will need to contact Laguna City to reserve a meter in order to park your tall camper. The cost for one meter is $25 per day. If you want more information about street parking, you can reach them at 949-497-0334.

How about staying at a campsite? Will that work for you and your family?

Yes, that could work. I just assumed you didn't have any in that area?

We are going to spend some days at a hotel at Spectrum in Irvine. I was thinking we just had to take day trips to Laguna beach. Although I am not sure about parking a camper at any parking lots there. I asked in another forum here about accessibility to the beach for disabled. Do you have parking for disabled? Can I use my own handikap parking permit from Europe?

I really appreciate all your help! It is not easy to plan a trip like that accross the pond!

Doheny State Beach is about 8 miles south of Laguna Beach. For thirteen years in a row, Doheny State Beach has been selected as the Readers' Choice "Best Camping Site" in Orange County, California. Take a look at what they have to offer:
