Everyone loves a good mystery, especially in the world of art. You don’t have to be Sherlock Holmes to figure out whodunit when The Art Detective, the 2014 Pageant of the Masters, is on the case.

The Festival of Art’s world famous theatrical celebration of art in tableaux vivants – “living pictures” – will reveal how lost treasures were discovered, where crimes of passion were uncovered (or covered up) and how creative riddles were unraveled, with a gallery of the world’s great masterpieces providing the clues! The stories and revelations are sure to provide fun for the whole family and be anything but elementary.

 

 

 

 

Festival of Arts

As one of the nation’s oldest and most highly acclaimed juried fine art shows, the Laguna Beach Festival of Arts has offered a breathtaking showcase for artists and art lovers for over 80 years.

 

The Festival’s prestigious juried art show includes a wide variety of media such as paintings, photography, printmaking, sculpture, jewelry, handcraftedwood and furniture, ceramics, glass and more – all by 140 of Orange County's finest artists. This is the place to find that perfect art treasure for your home or business.

 

From early July through the end of August, the Festival of Arts opens its doors daily for visitors to not only enjoy the award-winning work of exhibited artists, but also demonstrations and art workshops, daily art shows, live music, special events,on-site restaurants and much more.

 

 

The Sawdust Art Festival

The Sawdust Art Festival is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating the public and promoting the art created in Laguna Beach.

 

Since its inception, the non-profit Sawdust Art Festival organization has celebrated and supported the work of local artists.

 

Designed to both entertain and educate, the Sawdust Art Festival draws more than 200,000 visitors world-wide each year. Visitors are invited to shop along sawdust-covered paths through a hand-crafted village of fine arts and superb craftsmanship. Artists that exhibit during the summer festival are Laguna Beach residents. The Sawdust Art Festival also features art demonstration booths such as glassblowing, complimentary hands-on art workshops, a children’s art booth, Ceramic Center, as well as refreshments from four outdoor cafes and saloon, live musical entertainment and more. Laughter Yoga
Laughter Yoga is a unique, newly-developed practice of laughter as a form of exercise, free of the need for jokes or comedy.  Yogic breathing techniques are integrated with intentional laughter practices, resulting in numerous benefits to physical and emotional health.  Participants live life more joyfully and are better able to cope with whatever stresses life may bring.

 

 

The laughers gather daily on the sand at the northernmost end of “Main Beach” in Laguna Beach (Pacific Coast Highway at Broadway/Route 133). If it is raining, they meet under the Gazebo.  They laugh every day including all holidays.  All meetings are FREE, and everyone is welcome. Animals must obey leash laws; children must be supervised (kids usually need to play nearby, yet apart, when the grownups are relaxing).  Smoking is not allowed on the beach. Folk Dancing
Laguna Beach Folkdancers is hosting an instructional and recreational folk dancing workshop with instructor Daniela Ivanova, and musician Angel Nazelemov. The workshop runs from 7:00 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. every Sundays at the Susi Q Community Center, 380 Third St. No partner or experience is required. Cost is $5 per person. Free classes are held Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday* at 8am at the Montage public park (Treasure Island park). Carl Brown, a registered yoga alliance instructor and professionally trained in massage provides these free weekday yoga classes in Laguna Beach. *A small donation of $5 is suggested for the Saturday class which will be sent to the Himalayan Children’s Fund for the education of women. Jazz Dancing for Jazzed Seniors dance classes are offered from 9:15 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. Wednesdays in the great room of Susi Q, 380 Third St. Cost is $64 for eight classes. A panel of collaborative artists will discuss the benefits and challenges of creating artwork together. Includes Festival Artists Stephanie Cunningham and Betty Haight.

Laguna Beach MOPS
The MOPS (Mothers of pre-schoolers) program offers a morning of food, fun, creative activities, guest speakers on relevant topics such as parenting, relationships, marriage and more! Open to moms who are pregnant or adopting and moms with newborns and children of elementary school age. Preregistration is required, space is limited. $95 for moms only, or $125 for mom and children each semester. Yoga in the Park
Free classes are held Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday* at 8am at the Montage public park (Treasure Island park). Carl Brown, a registered yoga alliance instructor and professionally trained in massage provides these free weekday yoga classes in Laguna Beach. *A small donation of $5 is suggested for the Saturday class which will be sent to the Himalayan Children’s Fund for the education of women. Laughter Yoga
Laughter Yoga is a unique, newly-developed practice of laughter as a form of exercise, free of the need for jokes or comedy.  Yogic breathing techniques are integrated with intentional laughter practices, resulting in numerous benefits to physical and emotional health.  Participants live life more joyfully and are better able to cope with whatever stresses life may bring.

 

 

The laughers gather daily on the sand at the northernmost end of “Main Beach” in Laguna Beach (Pacific Coast Highway at Broadway/Route 133). If it is raining, they meet under the Gazebo.  They laugh every day including all holidays.  All meetings are FREE, and everyone is welcome. Animals must obey leash laws; children must be supervised (kids usually need to play nearby, yet apart, when the grownups are relaxing).  Smoking is not allowed on the beach.
